Weekly Review 6th – 12th of May 2013
So.. it’s about mid- May time now. If I’m serious about earning a contract in the summer, its time to really begin with making contacts and to ultimately fulfill the last four years of hard work. It’s going to be one of my tasks now to: Contact or follow up with 5 reputable looking people per day through LinkedIn or Email or phone with a personalized message.
Let’s see how this all goes.
The issue I had with accommodation in Amsterdam is now solved. Found what is my “dream” student accommodation.. so living in Amsterdam would not be an issue at all.
Right now, I really have a strong desire to return to Australia and play in the a-league.. I can’t see where a good trial or offer could come from at this point in time in Europe that would overall on all aspects, be better than living and playing in oz. I haven’t started contacting and following up with clubs and people yet, but I’m seriously considering booking flights in time for August and a-league pre season.

Goal Journal

Long term goals
Play professionally by end of summer 2013
Short term goals
1. improve my confidence on:
  • 1-on-1’s
  • Receiving with back to ball
& become a more valuable player by..
  • Looking for more ways I can get on the ball

Repetition, repetition, repetition. Receiving with back to ball and doing the moses turn is something I’m becoming much better at.

2. make a real habit of scanning alot
in personal training’s  I’m trying to really do extra and make it a habit of scanning left and right before receiving balls. Instead of just doing a control and pass exercise at Damsko, I want to add scanning to that exercise so it becomes more match realistic.
General comment: Improving, and I really want to shine more out of tight positions.

3. Ongoing – Find out what makes great players, great. What separates the “great” from the “good”.

4. Defend better

a. communication
b. knowing who should be marking who.figuring this one out…
5. Build LinkedIn network
Added a few contacts..
6. Plan better.
I need to be more efficient about exactly what I’m going to do in my workouts, rather than just make it up as I go.
accomplished: be stronger off the ball,  quicker plays, don’t let attackers run inside, play long ball forward instead of risky passback,  be more explosive
Plan & Checklist – 15 hour schedule. Missed 4.5 hours, so next Week is 19.5 hours as always.

In 2009, I was an average soccer player with a dream. I started this blog to document my journey from local underdog to getting offered over $100,000 in soccer scholarships, a contract to play professionally and the experience of playing in Europe.
